Best and Worst: Ben Affleck Movies

I’m switching things up a bit this week and trying something new.  Instead of a Top 10 list that would have either included some bad movies or another Top 5 list, I’m looking at the best and worst movies of Ben Affleck’s career.  Will his most recent movie, Batman v. Superman, make the best or the worst.  Well, if you’ve ready my review, you can probably guess.

Best:

The Town- This one showcases his directorial talent and his acting skills in what is the best heist movie since Heat.

Good Will Hunting- This is one of those movies I’ve been meaning to revisit for a long time, but it is great and got Affleck an Oscar for writing.

Gone Girl- It’s a great mystery movie, though that may be a credit more to David Fincher’s directing and the writing than Affleck’s performance.

Armageddon- What can I say? I find this movie very enjoyable, despite being ridiculously stupid.

Argo- Another one where he directs and act. I find it a little overrated, though it still is very good.

Also worth mentioning in the best: State of Play (not bad, just kind of forgettable), Gone Baby Gone (Directing only).

Worst:

Batman v. Superman- I (very) briefly considered putting this in the best, just because he is so great as Batman in this movie.

The Sum of All Fears- Not necessarily a bad movie, but it is probably the worst of the Jack Ryan movies.

Daredevil- All I can say is thank God we have the Netflix series now.

Runner Runner- Had potential but ends up being boring and forgettable.

Paycheck- I’ve seen this movie and don’t remember it at all, so it can’t be but so good.

Pearl Harbor- The attack scene is great, but everything around it is awful.

There are some movies that fall in between somewhere and a few more I’ve just never seen. Let me know your favorites and least favorites in the comments and also throw some feedback about the Best and Worst list my way.

  1. Jersey Girl was one of my favorite movies growing up and that was mainly because Ben Affleck did a really good job, but it’s a romantic movie so perhaps not everyone’s taste. I do however agree on the Daredevil one, what to do without Charlie Cox…

    1. Jersey Girl would be one of the ones I’ve never seen. Probably because I try to avoid romantic movies at any cost haha. But it’s always nice to have a different point of view so thanks for the comment!
