Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Teaser Trailer Review

The Force Awakens came out on DVD and Blu-Ray a few days ago and now we have our first look at the next Star Wars movie, Rogue One.  For those that don’t know, this is the first of the “standalone” Star Wars movies, meaning it doesn’t have anything to do with the new trilogy. This takes place between Episodes 3 and 4 and tells the story of how the rebels stole the plans for the Death Star.

I’ve been on board with this movie before I even saw this trailer.  It was number one on my Top 10 Most Anticipated of 2016 list.  This trailer solidifies that.  It’s just a teaser but actually has a lot of cool stuff in it.  There are quite a few moments of dialogue and I’m very intrigued by the lead character.  My favorite part of the trailer is the tone.  It feels dark and gritty, almost like a war movie, which I had heard was what they were trying to do with this.  From what I’ve seen so far, they succeeded.  There are quite a few shots that raise some questions that I’m sure we won’t get the answer to until the movie.  It’s an excellent teaser.  I can’t wait to see more and for the movie to be released in December.  I’m particularly interested to see how big a role Darth Vader plays in this movie.  He’s not in this trailer (and part of me hopes they don’t show him in any trailer) but he’s bound to be in the movie based on the subject matter.  It’ll be awesome to see one of the greatest movie villains of all time back on the big screen.

If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, it’s posted below.  Comment below and let me know what you think.  Are you excited for the next Star Wars movie?
